Composition has been excluded from the Tuition Category but are covered in our English Enrichment Category.

 

This is due to the overwhelming volume of subject matter to be covered in the tuitorial lessons



 

English Enrichment- Per Term
 

Through this course, students together with their teachers explore the fundamentals and move onto and into the intricacies of the English Language, thereby improving the students abilities in leaps and bounds in the 2 'R's of the English language (Reading and Writing).

 

Unlike in other tuitorial centres, here in our courses, these go deep into sentence structuring and building, sentence organisation, paragraphing, mind-mapping and other ingredients to make a healthy and wholesome written command of the language. Many schools who have seen our course materials have requested us to conduct these courses in their schools.

 

This course comprises of four modules namely, Module 1, 2, 3 and 4. With each module, it increases in complexity and higher standard is being set. The course deals with the 3 'C's; namely, Comprehension, Cloze Passage and Composition. We employ the creative way of teaching Comprehension by extracting site words and phrases from the passages and questions concerned and allow for anticipation and brainstorming, thus improving the general understanding of the passages.

 

As for the teaching of Composition, we use the "L" technique which has proven to be especially useful for the lower primary students.

 

Each module requires 10 lessons, duration one and a half hours each lesson. To complete this course, you will require to attend all 40 lessons over an estimated period of 10 months



English Elite Program- Per Term

 

This program caters for those students who are already scoring well in their examinations, and want to excel further to reach greater heights. The subject components covered will be the more difficult areas, such as composition, literature writing(secondary), comprehension etc. More difficult questions will also be posed, to encourage students to stretch their minds in thinking creatively, and coming up with novel solutions.

 

Super English Methodology - Per Term

 

 This program covers the vital area in the English subject -  Grammar and Synthesis. Proper usage of Grammar and construction of sentences in the English language is an essential skill that will carry your child far in life, even till his/her adult professional/working career.  

 

Confusing Grammar rules, and methodologies have always been an obstacle for students to remember them well, and make use of them. 

 

Here at Whizland Serangoon, we will incorporate easy to use and remember techniques to enable your child to use English Grammar, and Synthesize sentences well and proper.

Our techniques have ease of usage such that many students have reported scoring over 90% in the Grammar and Synthesis sections.



 

Power English Methodology- Per Term

 

In Power English, we take English learning on step further from the Super or Elite Courses. We make it even easier to recall, remember and use vital information in various components of the English Paper. More creative questions will be posed, with innnovative angles from which students are encouraged to view each question from.

HomeWork and Assessment Clinic - Monthly

 

In this program, students will bring their daily homework from school, or ask questions from assessment books. No active teaching will be provided, such that of those in classroom style learning. 

 

The tutor will provide the detailed answers with workings, solutions, and a in depth explanation. However, no active lecturing will be given.

 

This course, thus comes at a much lower and affordable rate as compared to to other courses.

MATHEMATICS PROGRAMS AND COURSES

In this program, students will bring their daily homework from school, or ask questions from assessment books. No active teaching will be provided, such that of those in classroom style learning. 

 

The tutor will provide the detailed answers with workings, solutions, and a in depth explanation. However, no active lecturing will be given.

 

This course, thus comes at a much lower and affordable rate as compared to to other courses.



 

Maths Elite Program- Per Term

 

This program caters for those students who are already scoring well in their examinations, and want to excel further to reach greater heights. The subject components covered will be the more difficult areas, such as heuristics, Maths Olympiad Questions(secondary), Bar-Model Diagrams. More difficult questions will also be posed, to encourage students to stretch their minds in thinking creatively, and coming up with novel solutions.

The components are primarily chapter based as directed by the Singapore Ministry of Education. For problem sums taught by process skills, they are covered in our Problem Solving Mathematics Category.



 

Maths Enrichment- Per Term
 

A programme that enables students to adapt to changes in the focus of examination questions being set by schools today. The course explores with the students the alternate ways in which questions are asked and our teachers work with students to find possible methods by which they can be solved. This gives students confidence in facing examinations and higher order questions.

 

The course initiates the students to a wide spectrum of problem solving strategies. Many difficult concepts are toned down with well-illustrated examples, involving simple numbers. With progressive exposure to a wide and varied strategies in problem solving, the students will develop thinking skills which will help them to become a creative problem solver. It is important to present your answer in a clear concise manner, through effective use of models, language and showing of intermediate steps.

The components are primarily chapter based. Currently, our Research and Development team is working on creating a Science Super Category incorporating Scientific experiments with hands-on skills to facilitate better understanding of scientific facts and implementation.



 

Science Enrichment (Diagnostic Science)- Per Term
 

A programme that enables students to adapt to changes in the focus of examination questions being set by schools today. The course explores with the students the alternate ways in which questions are asked and our teachers work with students to find possible methods by which they can be solved. This gives students confidence in facing examinations and higher order questions.

 

The course initiates the students to a wide spectrum of problem solving strategies. The course focuses on the open ended questions, from Section B, which require higher order thinking skills. Lots of diagrams and pictures are provided for students to visualise better the key ideas and concepts. Side notes for students along with the answer keys are also available, so that students concepts and learning can be reinforced further, and better. 

 

Teacher's will link back knowledge in the notes, questions to real life if possible by showing them videos, and real life samples of objects in Science. E.g. Bird's nest ferns, fungi(mushrooms) etc, and explain the concepts of how they reproduce(spores) side by side by showing them the underside spore bags.

The components are primarily chapter based. This part covers the multiple choice part in the Chinese language. 

 

Chinese Enrichment - Per Term
 

The Chinese Enrichment program covers the open ended section of Chinese paper. This part includes the comprehension and composition section. Our approach to these open ended sections is to encourage students' active participation in answering the questions. 

 

Our tutors will encourage students to speak up, to say out their ideas in answering comprehension questions, and alike for composition. The ideas are then collocated on the board, and the teacher will compare them one by one, and give feedback to each student. The correct answers will then be combined together to create a composition. For comprehension, any correct answers will be used as an alternative solutions/solutions to the standard answer key. This gives students a sense of participation in class, and also encourages them to think in depth about different ways of expressing the solutions, and to view the questions from alternative angles. Creativity and lateral thinking is sharpened in the process.
